Brilliant Things to Do While in London in May 2019

May is the perfect time of the year to go on an interesting tour of London. The summer vibes can totally be felt in May, and you won’t run out of brilliant things to do in this lovely city.

Take a look at some interesting fun festivals and activities you can do while staying at Park Grand Hotel Kensington Hotel London and strolling around the city in May 2019:

  • Watch films under the stars.

This summer, take your film viewing experience to a whole new level with London’s Rooftop Film Club.

The organization offers a delightful mix of beloved classic films and top-rated new releases for you to enjoy at the following outdoor rooftop venues:

  • Bussey Building, Peckham
  • Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch
  • Roof East, Stratford

Film line-ups for May 2019 include Bohemian Rhapsody, The Greatest Showman, Aquaman, and A Star Is Born, among many others. Head to the club’s website to view available film titles and screening times and to book tickets. Screening times usually start at 8:30 pm – 9:00 pm every day.

Expect an amazing outdoor film experience coupled with scenic views and great street food. The club will be offering free ice cream at selected screenings for this year.

Outdoor cinema from Rooftop Film Club will run for the entire duration of May 2019.

  • Appreciate the fascinating out of the trivial.

To celebrate all things ordinary yet fascinating, The Boring Conference was organized by founder James Ward and has been running since 2010.

This unique conference tackles subjects that are so ordinary, they become fascinating because of its trivialness. Past talks have included subjects such as vending machine sounds, keeping a record of sneezes, barcodes, and tie collections.

The Boring Conference was conceptualized by Mr. Ward after an event dubbed The Interesting Conference was suddenly canceled by its organizers. They tweeted an explanation, citing their busyness as the reason for canceling the event. Ward responded that boring things must be celebrated as well, and people suddenly swarmed in looking for tickets to Ward’s “boring things celebration”. Thus, the conference was born.

The Boring Conference takes place on the 4th of May 2019 in Conway Hall, London. Follow James Ward on Twitter and Facebook to get dibs on tickets, as they sell out pretty fast.

  • Unleash the inner kid in you through kite flying.

What better way to celebrate summer than with kite-flying?

Professional and amateur kite flyers will troop together on the 21st Streatham Kite Day, happening on 12th May 2019 at Streatham Common. Admission is free for everyone, and gates will open from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.

Watch the sky light up with kites flown by professional kite flyers such as The L Katz team and Brighton Kite Flyers. Bring your own kites or purchase one from the venue so that you may have a go at kite flying yourself!

Apart from kite flying, there are other activities on this fun-filled day:

  • Face painting
  • Bouncy castles for kids
  • Food vans and stalls
  • Large picnic areas for families
  • Community group stalls

This free public event is created by a local organization called The Friends of Streatham Common.
