Prepping for London Pride

Rainbow flags are raring to fly this summer as the London Pride is set on the 6th of July 2019.

Various events will be held from the 23rd of June leading to the pride parade on the 6th of July. The parade route will most likely kick off from Oxford Circus and move towards Regent Street, before heading to Piccadilly Circus, Lower Regent Street, and Pall Mall. It will then pass by Trafalgar Square and finally end at Whitehall.

As a member or ally of the LGBTQ+ community, taking part in all these pride events in different corners of the world is a spectacular idea. If you wish to visit London for pride and pre-pride events, here are 10 tips to help you get ready for London pride:

Book flights as soon as possible- As early as now, it is best to have flights booked so you can avail of cheaper airfare. Nothing lets you sleep in peace more than knowing that you have already secured your seat on that flight.

Find a place to stay- as the tentative venues for the pride and pre-pride events are already set, you can already start eyeing and booking a hotel that’s conveniently located around the venue like Park City Grand Plaza Hotel London.

Tickets- While you can freely join pride events without having to book or buy tickets, you might be interested in some that have tickets. You can check out some blogs and stay updated for events and pre-selling tickets.

Maps- Knowing the parade route can save you a lot of stress and hassle when you wish to join the parade. Familiarizing yourself with the map route from your hotel to the event venues would also very helpful. Also, look for restaurants in Kensington London for hunger after the pride.

Tube knowledge- the most convenient form of transportation in London is the tube. If it’s your first time to visit, try to check out the different lines and routes and note of the nearest stations to the venues.

Outfits- it’s never too early to pack your bags for a trip. You definitely wouldn’t want your pride photos to go with bad OOTDs.2.

Protective clothes and gears- London weather can be a bit unpredictable sometimes so it is best to pack some umbrella and a raincoat as well.

Rainbow flags- Going out to join the pride march is not fun without a rainbow flag to wave. There would probably be some sold in the venue but it would be cheaper to make or bring your own from home.

Rainbow props- aside from rainbow flags, glitter and paint will be all over the place so make sure to pack some if you don’t want to feel left out.

Rainbow personality- as the LGBTQ+ community is known for being fun and spirited, you shouldn’t be a party pooper come the pride March. Be ready to take your awesome personality with you and flaunt it.

Just like any other trip and event, it is best to prepare and plan ahead. Following these tips will help lessen your stress come London pride.
